STANDARDS and ETHICS
As members of the Adoption Exchange Association, Families Like Ours, Inc follows these national standards as prescribed and recognized by the Adoption Exchange Association.
(As a member of the Adoption Exchange Association), organizations will strive to recognize, promote and improve the adoption and foster care system and agree to be honor-bound by these professional business Standards and Ethics. Exchanges will:
- Take a strong role ADVOCATING in our community to uphold the highest standard of rights and services for the children in foster care, foster families, and adoptive families
- Provide the highest level of CUSTOMER SERVICE within our community for all those whom we serve
- Hold high ETHICAL STANDARDS and always work to improve the standards of practice
- Adhere to local guidelines and laws of CONFIDENTIALITY as they pertain to the children and families to whom the Exchange provides services
- Adhere to local and inter-jurisdictional MANDATED REPORTING laws and requirements
- Provide a solid COMMITMENT TO CHILDREN and FAMILIES to ensure their success through support and advocacy for system improvements
- Break down INTER-JURISDICTIONAL barriers that often lead to children waiting longer for permanence
- Break down the barriers that lead to DISCRIMINATION in all its forms in the treatment of children, families, and the adoption and foster care professional community
- COMMUNICATE effectively through written text, verbal, and electronic means in a manner that honors the children and families we serve
- CONDUCT BUSINESS in adherence to the laws of the state where the Exchange is located and in accordance with generally accepted business practices
- SUPPORT THE IDEALS and goals of the Adoption Exchange Association and strive to raise the bar of standards of services provided to children, families, and the adoption and foster care professional community in a constructive and positive manner
- Fees charged for services must be REASONABLE AND APPROPRIATE.
