Three brothers and a puppy!

Tue, 01/20/2009 - 12:43 | Waiting Kids

Jason, Travis and Tyler are three brothers in Washington state that entered the foster care system in the fall of 2007 due to neglect and abuse.

Jason is in the 4th grade and loves recess and foursquare, as do most 4th graders. He is described as being shy of adults by the school staff. Jason is interested in having opportunities to participate in extra curricular activities like sports and he participates in weekly counseling.

Tyler is in the 5th grade, is smart, engaging and his school describes him as “funny and imaginative.” Tyler is on an IEP? at school, and says he likes math. He is protective towards his younger brother Jason and is a “very loving child” according to his grandmother. Tyler loves his new puppy and wants to attend dog training classes.

Travis is a friendly and outgoing boy with some gaps between his high verbal and lower cognitive skills. When he is given clear verbal or written instructions or schedules he is eager to cooperate, to please, and to be successful. Travis is a protective older brother and has been described as “parentified” at times. Travis is on an IEP at school for language, math and emotional-behavioral needs. He is in the 8th grade and particularly likes math and science classes. He also likes t cook and make people laugh and would also like to participate in after school sports, besides an art program.

The social worker for these three boys would like to find an adoptive family that wants to have a lot of fun, and enjoys laughing. Their special needs are relatively straightforward and largely stem from the lack of a stable living situation, multiple moves and spotty school attendance while in their mother's care. All three boys have many straights to build upon and have demonstrated tremendous resilience. A family willing to allow their grandmother some continuing contact in a grandmotherly role will be especially significant to these three brothers.

If you would like to learn more about Jason, Tyler and Travis please contact Families Like Ours at 206-441-7602, 1-877-230-3055 or drop us an email.
